The following is an update from Lincoln County Emergency Management. The predicted time for these storms it between 6pm and 8pm Friday evening.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC), in coordination with NWS St. Louis, has upgraded our region to a Level 4 out of 5 severe weather risk for Friday afternoon and evening. This marks a significant escalation, as Levels 4 and 5 are used sparingly for high-impact events. This is a potentially dangerous situation, with all severe weather hazards possible, including large, destructive tornadoes and damaging winds.
Key Points:
- Storm Development & Movement: Storms are expected to develop along a dry line to our west and move rapidly east/northeast at approximately 70 mph. While the system is expected to move through quickly, it could be highly impactful. Storms should exit the region before midnight.
- High Wind Concerns: A High Wind Warning will go into effect Friday morning, with sustained winds of 40-50 mph even before storms develop in the afternoon/evening.
- Potential Impacts: High winds are the primary threat, but tornadoes and large hail remain significant concerns.
